Cocker Spaniel

The cocker spaniel can be a Springer spaniel, Brittany spaniel, and English cocker spaniel.  The
Cocker Spaniel is a medium sized sturdy dog. The head is rounded with a pronounced stop. The
muzzle is broad and deep with square even jaws. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The eyeballs
are dark, very round with slight almond shaped eye rims. Merle Cocker Spaniels can have blue
eyes. The long, low-set ears are well feathered. The top line slopes slightly from the front of the
dog to the back and the legs are straight. The tail is docked. Bold and keen to work, the
American Cocker Spaniel is equally suited to life as a gundog or as a household pet. Cheerful,
gentle and sweet. This breed is of average intelligence, and is respectful of its master's authority.
Amusing, trustworthy and charming with an ever-wagging tail. They are active, playful and
devoted, but should be socialized well when they are young to avoid a tendency for shyness. The
cocker spaniel is very hard to housebreak. The height of the male cocker spaniel is 15.5 inches
and the female is 14.5 inches. The weight of both the male and female cocker spaniel is 15-30
lbs. From the experience with my friends dogs they can be very hyper and they like to urinate in
the house if not taught right. They can live up anywhere from 12-15 years. My friends that have
a cocker spaniel had 5 puppies, which is the average for a cocker spaniel litter. If you want to
train your dog you might want to get the dog when it is a puppy because if it isn’t young it will
be very hard to train.

The Shih-Tzu

The Shih-Tzu is a small, sturdy dog, with a body that is slightly longer than it is tall. The head is
round and broad, wide between the eyes. The square muzzle is short, an inch or less from the tip
of the nose to the defined stop. The nose is broad, with well open nostrils. The Shih-Tzu is an
alert, lively, little dog. Happy and hardy, packed with character. The gentle loyal Shih-Tzu
makes friends easily and responds well to consistent patient training. They make a very alert
watch dog. Their height can be up to 11 inches and their weight is 9-16 lbs. Prone to slipped
stifle and spinal disc disease caused by a long back and short legs. Also ear infections, eye
problems and early tooth loss. The Shih Tzu is good for apartment life. They are fairly active
indoors and will do okay without a yard. This breed is sensitive to the heat. Their life expectancy
is about 15 years or more. In my opinion they are yappy dogs that bark a lot and they are very
playful when they are in the mood to play. The picture that is attached is a picture of Ashley
Pawelczak’s dog. When I go over to her house he likes to jump on my lap and lay there until I
leave.

The collie rough or smooth coat

The Collie can have a rough or a smooth coat. The Collie itself is a large, lean, strong
dog. The top of the head is flat and the eyebrows are arched. The muzzle is the muzzle is
rounded tapering to the black nose, with a slight stop and the head is wedge-shaped. The teeth
meet in a scissors bite. The eyes are almond shaped and can be dark brown except the blue
merles where the eyes can be blue or the they can have one of each color. The tail is moderately
long with an upward twist or swirl at the end and is carried low. The rough coat is long and
abundant all over the body but is shorter on the head and legs an the coat forms a mane around
the neck and chest. The outer coat is straight and harsh to the touch, and the undercoat is soft and
tight. The smooth coat variety has a short one inch coat all over the body. Coat colors on both the
rough and smooth variety include sable and white, tri color of black, white and tan, blue merle or
predominantly white with sable, tri-color or blue merle markings. The Collie is a highly
intelligent dog. If the Collie doesn’t have a good owner they can become stubborn and willful
dogs. The height of the male Collie is 24-26 inches and the female is 22-24 inches. The weight of
the male Collie is 60-75 lbs and the female is 50-65 lbs. Some of the health problems that the
can have are PRA, eye defects and hip problems. Collies may need sun block for their
nose because they are sensitive. They can live anywhere from 14-16 years. They need to be
brushed out every week to keep their coat looking nice.

The many faces of the Labradors

The first type of dog that I want to talk about is the Labrador. There are many types of Labrador.
They come in the English Labrador and the American Labrador. The English Labrador bred
comes from the English bred stock. They tend to be heavier, thicker and blockier. American
Labrador is tall and lanky and comes from an American bred stock dogs. . It doesn’t matter
what kind of breed of dog it is they both come in black, yellow, and chocolate. There is also a
rare color of silver Labrador. One of the most popular breeds in the USA, the Labrador Retriever
is loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. The height of the male lab is
22-24 inches and the female lab is 21-23 inches but some males can grow up to 100 pounds. The
weight of the male lab is 60-75 pounds and the female lab is 55-70 pounds. They are prone to hip
and elbow dysplasia, PRA, and eye disorders. They can live anywhere from 10-12 years.
Although the Labrador is a big dog it is still the gentlest and considerable dog you can ever
meet. I know all of this information because I have a black Labrador that lives with me. He is
such a lap dog and he likes to jump up on my lap when I am doing my homework or sitting in the
living room. At first when I got him he was a very hyper dog and he was jumping on everything

and everybody but once he got used to us and the house he started to calm down. This is a

picture of my black Labrador, Ringo at Christmas time with his reindeer ears on.
